Maria Keegan: Class of 2024 (Forward/MF) - My Personal Statement
Maximum effort grants you maximum results. A motto quite clique to the sport of field hockey, yet entirely accurate both on and off the turf. Since I was little, my parents instilled the belief that we don’t just deserve things in life: we work for them. When the tough gets going, the going gets tough; but we must learn to persevere, and harness your losses and shift them into your strengths.
My goal is to elevate my field hockey experience with me to the collegiate level, while simultaneously maintaining a strong academic pathway for my future. I am versatile on the turf, while primarily playing forward on the wing(s), but am capable of bouncing back in order to support our midfield when necessary. I am strong and able to be at the athletic and academic level that I need to be at, while also remaining hungry for something more; something above and beyond. I am a multi-sport varsity athlete, meaning I am capable of juggling multiple tasks handed at once. Though striving for the "win factor" of the sport, I do know, morally, the win is not always what matters most, rather transforming your team into your family. I do have a very genuine love and dedication to the sport of field hockey, and I'm ready to remain steadily focused on my goal of playing at the collegiate level.
Off the field, however, I do engage in typical activities! I like to read books, spend time with my family and friends, eat ice cream, and go for runs and hikes. My favorite class is anything involving Humanities.
Primarily looking for a college/university in New England and Tri-State area with a D2/D3 field hockey program.
Preferred field of study would be Business or Marketing.
