My name is Martina Hill, I am influenced by my family and team. They are all so supportive in who i want to become and I am so lucky to have them. I became interested in Field Hockey when my older sister would play during her high school years, I would watch her games from the fence and wish I was able to be as good as them. Just seeing how they moved together so fluently on the field and we’re so into the game I knew that I wanted to play. Eventually I played on the little league once I was old enough with an amazing coach Trisha Moulton and many other assistant coaches. Trisha has been right by my side throughout my journey with Field Hockey and I am extremely grateful for her support and encouragement.
When I step on the field I get a sense of integrity and really focus on myself and how I play. I do my best to support my teammates and help them develop some self confidence because it is needed when playing any sport.
As a three year starter and this past season I earned the captains band to help guide and lead me and my teammates to a great season. It has been an amazing experience so far and I am so happy to be a part of such a family.
I maintain an average A- / B+ in all classes and have been an honor roll student each quarter. I would like to maintain these standings through college as well. I think Covid-19 has been a really big obstacle for most athletes and their teams. We were unable to play winter league and were restricted from any camps this past season. This most definitely effected how we all played and of course our mindset. I can say we did a great job uplifting each other with weekly check-ins with one another to see how they are feeling and if there’s anything we can do to help make it a little easier. I can say I have the passion, the integrity, I am goal-oriented, and I put in strong work ethic on and off the field. I know I have what it takes to become a good athlete and play at the college level.
