Annie O'Brien '20 Recruiting Profile

I am an Honor Roll student, looking to make my next steps in my athletic and academic career at the collegiate level. I come from a large family of field hockey players who have gone on to be successful student-athletes in both Division I and Division III programs. I believe I have the skills, experience, and passion to play this sport at the collegiate level, and I am looking to compete for a team that shares my core values of respect, dedication, and teamwork.

During my five years with the Wizards Field Hockey Club, I have had the privilege of competing with some of the top athletes in the country at Shooting Star tournaments, Regional Club Championships, indoor tournaments, and the National Hockey Festival. I am also a proud member of the Acton-Boxborough Varsity Team’s defensive squad. We continue to be ranked as one of the Top 10 High School Teams in Massachusetts by The Boston Globe, and our program has seen many successful post-season runs, including multiple Division 1 state titles in the last decade. At the end of this past season, my high school coach called me “the ideal teammate” who was “deeply invested in the team and has a genuine concern for others.” In my current role as a defender, I take great pride in my ability to fight for the ball, to see the field and to set my teammates up with creative and strong passes out of our defensive zone. Regardless of the position, what I bring to the field is a strong work ethic, great leadership, skill, competitiveness, teamwork, and an understanding of how to get the best out of myself and my teammates.
