Hi, my name is Abby Sher and I am from Danvers, MA. I am a rising senior at Danvers High School where I currently play multiple positions (forward and center mid) on the field hockey team. Although I didn’t start playing sports competitively until sixth grade, when I first picked up my field hockey stick, I have been around them all my life. Growing up I was brought to every one of my older brother’s hockey practices and games. Going to these taught me the true meaning of hard work and resilience, and I believe, where I began to develop the work ethic that I now carry with me on and off the field. My mom, who played field hockey at Michigan State is the person who actually got me into the game, and who has pushed me to be the best version of myself, as both a player and person. My goal after high school is to go to a school where I can be impactful both athletically and academically, as academics are also a big portion of my life. I am a team player. I look for ways in which I can elevate my team even if that means that I am not the one that gets the acknowledgment. I am coachable, I see the game, adapt quickly to what is asked of me and the options on the field that I see. Every practice, every game, I give 110%, maximum effort leaving it all on the field. I know that I can be an asset on and off the field when given the opportunity.
