I have been challenged from the beginning being a young keeper for the older age groups, at school and in club. It encouraged me to be an ambitious athlete, playing U19 Premier both years of my club season, attending RCCs, Shooting Stars Showcase, being selected to train for Regional Futures Championship and now being asked back to train with the U19 RCC group. My best quality is that I am easily coachable and able to change my playing style with feedback. I have learned not to get frustrated but to ask questions to better my play. Learning how to be a good goalkeeper takes continuous reflection, insightfulness, and modification of my play. In college, I see myself playing with a team that is as passionate about the sport as I am and I want my career as a field hockey goalkeeper to go as far as I can take it.
Freshman year I started as varsity goalkeeper. That year my high school team was named Cape Ann League Champions and my team made it to the North Division II finals where we placed runner-up. At the end of my freshman year, I joined Seacoast United Essex and was able to grow my skills immensely playing field hockey year round. As a sophomore, my high school team was named Cape Ann League Champions again and went into Playoffs seeded #2. Throughout my high school and club season, I was able to grow my leadership skills and continue my high level of playing and dedication to field hockey. At the end of my sophomore season, I was voted to be a captain my junior year by my teammates. Through playing field hockey goalkeeper I have learned that I am able to control my emotions, stay level-headed throughout games and aid my teammates by communicating the best field position to benefit them. Throughout high school, I have stayed on the honor roll and received positive feedback from my teachers about my leadership and exemplary model of work.
I wish for my college experience to be full of accomplishments as a goalkeeper for a team and in the classroom.
