I began seriously playing field hockey in the fifth grade after leaving Junior Olympic gymnastics (level 7) at the end of my 4th grade year. I aspire to go to an academically competitive college or university. I am a student who not only values academics but also aspires to achieve a high level of performance in athletics. I believe in helping my peers, when needed, so that we all can achieve our best academic and athletic self. I am hoping to go on to a higher level of education and eventually attend veterinary or medical school. I feel that I would be a good candidate for a college field hockey team because I bring an absolute love of field hockey, along with leadership and team oriented skills. I am all about my team. I am good at assessing the field of play and accurately passing to my teammates for the best team outcome rather than working to improve my own personal statistics. Sportsmanship, along with competitiveness, in a game is important to me. My school, AMSA, did not have a field hockey team when I began. I have worked with my athletic director, Pete Jones, to find a team for AMSA students because of my love for the game. I worked with Mr. Jones for several years and he finally found a school, Assabet Valley RVT, who was willing to try a cooperative program between the two schools for field hockey. My sophomore year was my first year being able to play school affiliated field hockey and it has been amazing. My coach was very happy with the skill, attitude and positive contributions that the AMSA girls brought to her team. I was named captain of my team by my teammates for our junior year. In addition, as a sophomore, I was named as a captain of my lacrosse team which was a great honor as I only began to play lacrosse in high school. As part of being a captain of both of my teams, I have worked to foster a team culture among not only varsity but also junior varsity players. We help each other to improve. As part of this, I helped to form an indoor league for high school lacrosse and am currently working on an indoor league for high school field hockey. As we get knocked down over and over again with Covid, I have worked hard to elevate the morale of my teams and look toward a positive future.
