My name is Aileen Fitzgerald, I am a junior at Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School in Orange MA, where I play varsity field hockey under Laurie Saisa. I also play club field hockey under Lynn Anderson for Element Athletics. In addition to field hockey, I run indoor and outdoor track to stay in shape during the offseason under Sarah Woodard. I have 2 varsity letters for field hockey, 3 for indoor track and 4 for outdoor track. I was also voted co-captain of the varsity field hockey team for the 2019 season.
Outside of school sports I volunteer for various activities and programs. My favorite of which is coaching field hockey for elementary age students. I enjoy this opportunity to give back and foster a love for my sport in young athletes.
I take all honors courses because I want to push myself and like the extra challenge. I struggle with math but being determined I selected to take honors-level classes, which is the reason for my low GPA. However, I work hard in school and deeply enjoy academic activities that involve reality-based problem solving related to social issues, debates, discussions, as well as preparing and giving presentations.
I am very interested in playing field hockey at the highest possible level in college while attending a college that will continue to offer me an academic challenge. I hope to enter the field of criminal justice upon graduation and I know that a strong understanding of the human mind and behavior, as well as knowledge of the scientific processes involved in solving crimes, will benefit me in this career path. My current plan is to major in Psychology with a concentration in forensics or criminal justice.
