Hanna Scheessele '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Hanna Scheessele (rhymes with Nestle), a class of 2025 member of the St. Louis, MO Gateway Field Hockey Club as the starting center defender on the U19 Red team (highest level).   I recently finished my undefeated high school season as a starting defender for the John Burroughs School varsity team, with a 1st place finish at the Missouri State Championship and am humbled to have just been named to the St. Louis Post Dispatch's 2023 All-Metro Field Hockey Second Team.  While I have been an athlete all my life (competitive club soccer, track and field sprinter, flag football (as the only female player on my team), basketball, and lacrosse), it was not until I discovered field hockey in 7th grade that I found my athletic passion.  In my short field hockey career, I have become a valued team player with excellent field vision, focusing on the betterment of the team over individual success, as evidenced by the humbling honor of being named to the 2022 National Hockey Festival All-Star List.  My coaches describe me as extremely coachable and a "student of the game," always striving to learn more with a tireless work ethic.  Combining the academic rigor of a top prep high school with my multi-sport (Field Hockey and Lacrosse) commitments, as well as numerous volunteer and extracurricular activities, I have become adept at time management while earning exceptional grades and accolades from teachers.  I aspire to continue my academic, athletic, professional and life journey at the highest level.
