Speed. Ever since I started playing sports, coaches, parents and my teammates have always commented on how fast I am. I could hear them yelling "Wheels Gabby, Wheels!" from the sidelines of all of my games and I would even be approached afterwards on how I get faster and faster each time they watch me. Going into high school I became more confident in my abilities when I made JV for my high school team as a freshman. At first I was nervous to be playing with girls older and bigger than me but it was a beneficial experience and helped gain confidence and further advance my skills. I wasn't a starting player for the first few weeks but kept working on my stick skill and speed and became a starter on the JV team. My sophomore year, I was the only sophomore to make the varsity team and I also started. I was scared the older girls wouldn't accept me but just the opposite happened, I became close with many of the upperclassmen on my team and was voted most improved player. I love being part of a team and working towards a goal with players who continuously push me to improve. As a rising Junior, I'm expected to be a leader on the team and I'm more than prepared to be one. I will continue to work hard through my upcoming season and in my future years of playing.
