From the first time I ever held a field hockey stick until now, it still gives me the same sense of ease. I came into field hockey later that most girls my age but that didn't stop me from working hard and catching up. The decision to play field hockey is one of the best decisions of my life, and I have never looked back. I tried out for the club team Uprise almost immediately after my first season and I have been with them since. In my eighth grade year I was a captain at my middle school and that was one of my favorite seasons ever. I got to be a true leader and the rest of the team looked up to me.
Field hockey has truly made me a much better person. I feel as though I have been playing field hockey for all of my life. Field hockey challenged me in a way that I have not experienced before. I like routine and order and field hockey certainly pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it was different. I didn't feel uncomfortable when playing this sport. It makes me feel so confident and powerful when I play. My strengths? I think one of my biggest strengths is simply just loving the game so much. You can't teach that. I have learned from every coach that has ever coached me, even if they weren't my favorite. I have formed relationships with all of my coaches easily, probably because I am coachable. I am really good at seeing the whole field and finding those passes that are harder to see. I am also very good at predicting where the other team may pass the ball. I did not start out with all of these skills. As far as how I am different from everyone else, I would say that coming in late probably separates me from a good amount of girls and personally I think that has provided advantages for me. I also would consider myself a smart person since I have made honor roll and am taking Project Lead The Way, an engineering class that I had to apply to. When college comes around, I hope to study Psychology and Business as I have hopes of becoming a detective one day. I plan to spend four years at college, and another two years at grad school. Hopefully I will have an opportunity to continue my field hockey career in college. I am so excited for what my future brings!
