Hello! My name is Elizabeth Scheer and I am a junior at Morristown High School in New Jersey. I have been a starting varsity defender for 2 years and was a starting mid on the JV team my freshman year. I am also a member of the New Jersey Spartans Club that I joined in early 2018. My passion for field hockey began at 12 years old after I joined a clinic to prepare for field hockey competition in middle school. Ever since then, I have strived to improve my game and develop as a player. Through rigorous training on and off the field, I have devoted my time to becoming the best athlete I can be. My grit and perseverance make me fit for a new challenge as I am determined to take this commitment to the next level and compete at the collegiate level.
I take pride in my academics and my strong work ethic helps me as a student-athlete. I have a weighted GPA of 4.6 (un-weighted is 3.9) and I continue to challenge myself academically as well as physically because it is vitally important to me to learn and improve. I have taken many honors classes along with multiple AP courses over the course of my high school career, and have continuously made the honor roll.
Besides academics and field hockey, my other extra-curricular activities are essential in making me the student-athlete I am today. I have 9 years of lacrosse experience, playing for both my high school and recreational teams, as well as being the founder of my high school’s new, female ice hockey program. In addition to athletics, I am on the board of Key Club, a student-oriented club that focuses on community service, and am an active member of FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America). Giving back to the community has always been significant to me.
Over the course of my athletic career, I have learned that dedication is key to improving your game. I am a coachable player who thrives on feedback, whether it be positive or constructive. I practice 6-7 days a week and along with other activities, such as speed training and pick-up games, my love for the game continues to grow as I see myself developing and improving as a person and a player. Being a part of a supportive team and a strong program is what I believe will be the final step in becoming the athlete I desire to be.
