I played many sports in my youth, but the moment I picked up a field hockey stick I knew it was the sport for me. I joined my local town team in 5th grade and tried out for my first club team in 8th grade. I had to choose between a local club team that all my friends joined and a club that was an hour away with a different coaching philosophy. I chose the latter because I believed it would better my skills and help me grow into the best player I can be. It was scary in the beginning because I knew no one, but it proved to be the right decision in the end. I now have many friends from all across the state. Playing club has given me the opportunity to travel along the east coast for tournaments. The fierce competition has made my love for the game grow. I have also been lucky enough to participate in indoor field hockey. The fast pace game has helped me develop my skills and sharpen my reflexes.
I love playing for my high school team because of the bond our small team builds. In the three years that I have been playing for the varsity team, we have had three different coaches. Yet, even with this instability, we have won two division titles. Each day I aim to get stronger, smarter, and become a better player. I am interested in taking my field hockey to the collegiate level. I am looking for a program that will challenge me academically and athletically. My desire to succeed and the ability to strive in the face of adversity would make me a great addition to your team!
