Hi my name is Sofia Beseth and I am in the class of 2022. You can learn a lot about me from my highlight reel, statistics, awards and honors, extracurriculars, academic schedule, and record. There are some things, however, that you may not be able to understand about me just from my profile. First of all, when I started my high school varsity career as a freshman, my coach moved me from an attack position to that of right back. Then in my sophomore year, he moved me to right mid, and in junior year he had me play low mid, high forward, and then left mid. Sometimes he would have me play all of these different positions in the same game. I played wherever he thought my team needed me in order for us to be successful without complaint. Of course, I initially lacked confidence at each position change, but I worked hard to learn new skills and field awareness with each position adjustment. Throughout this process, I learned a lot about my potential as a person and an athlete.
While I am competitive and driven, I am also the player who both lifts up my teammates when they need it most and pushes them to play hard in every practice and every game. My coachability, speed, quick and accurate passes, situational awareness, and communication skills are what I have contributed to my team's success. I lead as much from the rear of the group as I do from the front. I take as great a joy in my assists and block tackles as I do in my own goals. I am genuinely proud of my teammates' success. Lastly, I know how to have fun while still being able to meet expectations. I am adaptable and optimistic because I not only have a coach who practices a growth mindset philosophy, but I attend a school that is academically and socially organized around that concept. I am looking for a coach and a school that values this type of player and student because I want to continue to better myself while still coming through for my team. I hope to thrive in an environment where my work ethic, desire for feedback, love of the game, and commitment to my teammates is valued.
