Personal Statement

I can't remember a time when I didn't have a stick in my hand as field hockey has been a passion of mine since first grade. For the past eight years, I have been a dedicated player for the WC Eagles Field Hockey Club and a varsity starter for The Agnes Irwin School.  I have played in Amsterdam, was tapped to play in Ireland in the Limerick Cup (and COVID happened), and I have received training from some of the best coaches across college campuses and clubs. I enjoy both mid and defense with midfield giving me more opportunities to showcase the technical skills.  What you will learn about me is that I am not the squeaky wheel or showy player on the field. I am the one that you would look for as even-keeled, grace under pressure, a team player who takes pride in getting the assists on target versus having my own name in lights.  I bring a solid foundation, with strong technical skills, agility (both learning and athletic), and a respect for and interest in constantly raising the bar for myself while encouraging my teammates.  I play hard for my team and not for myself.  I respect my coaches and appreciate the time that they put in to share their experience and their guidance.

In the class room, I am currently a high honors student with a penchant for science and history.  I also excel in Economics and English. I balance my academics and athleticism with music, more specifically, I am in our school's traveling a cappella group, the Bel Cantos, and our school choir. I am also a four year tour guide as well as an active member of our STEM Club, Debate Club, Athletes Helping Athletes, school musicals and more.

From a character perspective, I prefer to recognize and talk about the beauty/talents of others versus myself. So, this is not necessarily my comfort zone. As a result, I do have a healthy dose of humility along with resilience and perseverance (I am used to rolling up my sleeves to work hard on and off of the field).  My friends, family and coaches, will share that I am extremely loyal and I take pride in my integrity and desire to help others.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
