Like so many, 2020 was a tough year for me, academics were hard between the shut downs, quarantines, adjusting to high school and technical issues with remote learning. A broken collar bone heading into winter 2021 and a major foot surgery in the summer of 2021 meant that I didn't get to play as much hockey as I was hoping. I learned a lot of tough lessons in the last twelve months but the biggest is PERSERVERANCE!
I've worked hard to get myself back on track both academically and athletically. My current GPA for my sophomore year is 3.5 and I am dedicated to continue working hard to keep it up. I've since been nominated and inducted into the Tri M Honor Society for music. Once I received the all clear from my surgeon on October 15, 2021, I started training hard to get myself in shape physically and mentally so that I would be ready to compete again in the sport that I love. I played in the National Festival competition in Tampa in November of 2021 with my Club team - X-Calibur U16, we won our pool. X-Calibur triple rostered me this 2022 indoor season with U16, U19, and JPIL teams. My U16 team and I won pool M at the National Indoor Tournament allowing only 4 goals against us in 5 games.
So while 2020-2021 was tough, it was a blessing in disguise because the challenges that I faced taught me many valuable lessons. With hard work and dedication, I can overcome any setback that life throws my way. I might not be as prepared for a test as I should have been, I may have an injury that sidelines me for a few weeks or I might make a mistake and let a goal in the net but I will ALWAYS pick myself back up, dust it off and move forward with a positive attitude and hard work because I know what I am capable of accomplishing when I persevere.
