Desiraye Mack '12 Recruiting Profile

My field hockey career started when I was six years old. My mom coached a high school team so I wanted to find out more about hockey. I started playing at camps every summer starting at six years old. My fastest mile time is 6:45. I have been playing field hockey for 7 yrs. I am a very knowledgeable player. I can play anywhere on the field, but I am a stronger offender. My strengths as a player are my vision for the field and knowing where my players are at all times. When I am not playing for my high school team, I play indoor with Kapow field hockey club. I have participated in the U19 Loudenville qualifier and we came in first. At the NIT tournament we came in 4th in pool A. I also participated in the National Field Hockey Festival in Arizona and California. In 2009, I played for Kapow in California. In 2010, I played for Pocono Too in Arizona. As a player, I can offer my knowledge and leadership to any team I play on. I am not afraid to give pointers to my teammates so we can become a better team. Prior to playing with KaPow and Pocono Too began with East Coast under Bill Gaudette. I would travel for up to two hours on weekends to play for him. In my college search, I do not have a geographical preference, but I love warm weather. I am looking for a school that can provide a proficient academic program in broadcast journalism or journalism and a school where I can play division 1 field hockey. My family will need financial aid in order for me to attend college. My athletic goal going into college is to have a starting position as a freshman.
