If you are reading this, chances are you have read hundreds of personal statements. Everyone has heard sometime in their life that "everyone is special in their own way", and this is a great opportunity to show you what makes me unique, and hopefully stand out from the countless personal statements you have read. Starting with the basics, my name is Sydney Rimmer. I am currently 16 years old and I am a junior (class of 2018) at Cumberland Valley High school, Mechanicsburg, PA, where I play varsity field hockey. My freshman year, I was a swinger between JV and Varsity, which was both an honor and a learning experience. My sophomore year, I made full-time varsity, and was named a new up-incomer by a local blog, Cumberlink. This year, I made first-team Commonwealth Allstar games. I have played field hockey since 7th grade. Outside of school hockey, I play for the field hockey club PA Mavericks. In both teams, my remarkable speed sets me apart from my teammates, in addition to my skill, coachability, and determination. I primarily play forward and midfield, but because of past I also have the ability and experience to play defense when necessary, and am always open to try new things in any situation. This summer, I played for the Keystone State games on the elite team, taking first in our division. I also participate in the Futures field hockey program. Other extracurricular activities I participate in include student council, THON committee, softball (for 18u PA Triple Threat travel softball), and horseback riding. I strive to do my best in my academics and on the field, and hold myself to a very high standard. Feedback is one of my favorite things, because I am always looking to improve and better myself. I have taken and currently take honors and AP courses, and four consecutive years of Spanish. As a person, I get along easily with people and consider myself outgoing, and I am not afraid to lead the pack. I work well with others, my classmates and teammates can advocate that. My athletic and academic experience has taught me time management, commitment, dedication, determination, teamwork, and countless other lessons that I will carry with me for the entirety of my life. The man at the top of the mountain didn't land there. While I may not be at the top of the mountain yet, him and I have something in common. We have the determination and drive to get to the peak, and are willing to work for it. Even if I am not the right fit for your college and team, I hope you find someone who is willing to work to get to the top of that mountain. Thank you for your time, and I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit about me. Feel free to contact me with any further questions and more information by my email, [email protected] Thanks in advance for your consideration.
