Starting off in sixth grade on a very laid-back, easygoing field hockey organization was the start of my hockey career. It was before I knew I wanted to continue playing in college. I soon found that I loved the sport and it out-weighed the other sports I was considering at the time. I soon switched to a more rigid, higher-level team that made me a much better player and also made me want to become serious about it.
Playing on junior varsity my freshman and sophomore year was an eye opening experience. It made me work harder and push myself to become a better athlete while working with people I didn't know very well or even at all. I was grateful to have a hardworking, committed team by my side and we were able to go undefeated, in both seasons. I noticed that if I wanted to improve, I had to fully dedicate to the sport I have been playing since sixth grade. Working with my club team and playing in tournaments had helped me gain skills that were needed to become a better player, especially when we play hard, work hard, and connect with each other during games and practices. More so, I chose to enroll in two AP and all honors classes in my sophomore year to challenge myself and go into depth on the subjects I am very interested in. I got the incredible chance to play with varsity in 3 games, including the playoffs and semifinals game, leading to states. Starting in two out of the three gave me an inside look to the team I will continue to play on for the next two years.
I am looking for a program that will satisfy my need to become a better player on and off the field, academically enlighten my interest in engineering, and help me grow as a person. Not only am I a devoted athlete, but I am an enthusiastic leader, willing to do whatever it takes to help my team become better and succeed.
