My introduction to field hockey came at a very early age - the day I was born to be exact. My mother was a high school field hockey coach and the day I was born, her field hockey team went on to beat one of their rivals. The next day, the team celebrated at the hospital and huddled around my mom and me, and I was given a miniature field hockey stick.
Though the years, I tried many sports, but truly fell in love with the game of field hockey. In a very short time, I was hooked. I loved the camaraderie of the team, the athleticism needed to play, the goosebumps I felt at the start of each game, and the joy of hearing the sound of the ball hitting the backboard of the goal.
In my freshman season, I was fortunate enough to get pulled up to the varsity team, therefore gained some good varsity experience as a 13 year old. Right away, I knew that this was the sport I wanted to put my heart and soul into during my high school years. I have continued to play multiple sports during the year--track and field, lacrosse, and swimming--but field hockey is my first love. I had to battle through adversity during my sophomore season, but made the best of it by learning as much as I could from the sidelines. I feel that overall I am a better player with what I learned that fall and if anything, the time off the field made me hungry to become a better player.
I have an athletic drive and a strong work ethic. I am the type of person to wake up early and go on a run before school just to stay in shape. I am committed to improving my game as well as keeping up with all of my classes. With a current 4.0 GPA and in all honors classes, my goal is to graduate near the top of my class. I'm excited to begin the college search where I will be searching for the place that will challenge me both athletically ad academically where I will thrive and become the best version of myself.
