Field hockey has taught me not just how to hit a ball or save a shot, but also how to build a bond within a team that can be used and applied during games. I have been playing field hockey for 6 years and I immediately fell in love with the sport. In those 6 years, I have grown to believe that teams prosper by the way we apply our minds to the game and how we execute our acts. With that mindset, many of my own traits were able to flourish upon it. Often, I am seen as the "Trailblazer" or the spirited athlete. I am a hardworking, coachable, easily adaptable athlete, with the ability to mold myself into different situations and be comfortable to change. Along with those characteristics, I have bursting energy and am able to communicate very well with my fellow peers that may be an asset to the team.
My goal now as a student is to support all aspects of my individual and the team by revolving around skills, teambuilding, tactics, and being in the right state of mind. As an athlete of the same sport for many years, I have been able to witness and participate in many versions of coaching. The experiences have taught me much about forming into new tactics and being under different coaching environments. My ability to think and act in quick decision-making moments have grown through that, so has to be able to communicate on and off the field with maturity and positive intentions. Not only in the field do I apply my knowledge and leadership, but in my education too. I manage to keep a high GPA while taking AP, honorary classes and earning academic letters and awards. I participate in many extracurriculars as well, including student council, Spanish honor society, key club, and SALT (Student-Athlete Leadership Council), which I also take as a class. I aspire to be apart of a school that suits my educational goals in Clinical Psychology and Criminal Justice.
I want to take my education and sport to a collegiate level in order to expand my knowledge and skill that will develop during my time on campus and be an asset to the team and overall community. I aim to have field hockey and my academics built on a strong foundation that will aid me in my future career and pursuits. In all, I would like to say that I have a burning aspiration for the sport, education, and environment and I have a desire to share that passion.
