Mya Southerland '22 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing volleyball since I was nine years old.   I love the sport and I feel like playing in college is the ultimate opportunity.  I would love to challenge myself at the next level because I believe pushing yourself to the absolute max shows you just what you are capable of doing, so in essence you’re not really pushing your limits, you’re finding your limits.

On the court I have fast movement and strong defense.  I am a team captain and think it’s important to encourage my teammates no matter if we are winning or losing.  I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players you'll find.

I am equally determined to do well in my academics.  I study hard and maintain a good GPA.  I am also a current member of the National Honor Society.

Right now I am exploring my college options and looking at schools where I could see myself as both a student and volleyball player.   I am open to all divisions and want to ultimately find the right college match.
