My name is Jestin Gilmore, I have been playing football for 10 going on 11 years, and I am going to tell you about myself. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for my mom because growing up I didn’t have a dad to help my mom take care of me and my sisters or teach me how to even be a man. So if it wasn’t for my mom interest in football I wouldn’t even be the type of athletic person I am today. So my mom played a big part of who I am today. I became interested in football because of my father. Playing football helped learn more about myself by me being a hard working athlete not only in sports though, playing football helped me understand the importance of the sport, not only doing doing great on the field can get me recruited but also what I do in school matters and keep my grades up and myself out of trouble. Also even giving back to the community matters. My high school academic goal is to end with a 4.0 gpa. My academic goal for college is to stay on the prestige list. One obstacle I had to overcome to be where I am today is my 7th grade year wasn’t my best year, I wasn’t getting much playing time nor was I having the best year in school and I was thinking to myself was it me not pushing myself to being the best that I can be or being bad at the sport or coach just overlooking me or the teachers not liking me, so that really discouraged me and I thought about actually quitting football but I didn’t really want to, so I kept working hard in school by applying myself to school actually start to get the work completed with me actually understanding the work and applying myself on the field as well trying to get coach to notice me and my time had finally came. I started to pick up my grades until it became the grades I was actually satisfied with and I learned from myself that I have to give it my all when I am on the field and when I am in the classroom because that is where it starts and that can really show coaches what I am about. Some skills that I have is that I can communicate with my teammates when I have to let them know what to do if they don’t know what to do, I can learn plays fast, I can read plays and react to them. Overall, I am going to be great on and off the field and will work hard in whatever I am doing. My name is Jestin Gilmore and I am willing to prove myself as an student athlete
