When I step onto the gridiron, two things are always true: I'm the first one on, and the last one off. The game has taught me life lessons I will take with me into my adult years: discipline, a work ethic, teamwork, punctuality, persistence and goal-setting to name a few.
My name is Ben Howard. I am in the class of 2013 at Valhalla High School, in El Cajon, CA.
I have been playing football since 7th grade. In 2008, my second year of tackle, I played in the U.S. Army All American Bowl for 8th graders in San Antonio, Texas. In 2009, I was named freshman team overall Most Valuable Player. My coaches talked about my work ethic at the awards banquet and challenged my teammates to match my dedication to the sport. In 2010, I was named Best Receiver of the Year on JV. I was called up to varsity for the postseason after both my freshman and JV years. As a junior, I started at receiver at the X position. This past year, I started again at the X position, hauling in 39 catches for 800 yards and 9 touchdowns. I broke Valhalla's school record with 4 touchdown receptions in one game, week two against Madison High School. Madison, whose only loss was against Valhalla, went on to win the Div. 3 State Championship. Against top-25 CA state-ranked El Toro HS, I caught 7 passes for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns. I finished the regular season tied at number 8 for yards in San Diego County, and number 5 for touchdowns.
My motivation to simply be the best receiver on the field is excercised through my work ethic, and then exhibited on Friday nights. I can assure you that my precise route running, speed, sure-hands and big-play ability will provide a boost for your offense, and a headache for the opposing defensive coordinator. I work as hard in the classroom as I do in the weight room, and maintain a steady GPA in and out of football season.
My family is currently financially challenged and would greatly appreciate any financial assistance. Thank you for viewing my profile and please contact me 24/7 with any questions.
