Emily van der Zalm '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Emily van der Zalm.  I would love the opportunity to study at a well-ranked university, while continuing to play softball. I am an accomplished student with an average 4.2 GPA. What sets me apart from other players is my calm demeanor when faced with challenges and my positive attitude. I am a right handed pitcher, first basemen, third basemen, and outfielder — an overall utility player. In addition to my love of softball, I also have a great passion for music and art. I play the viola in my school’s advanced orchestra and I sing my school’s choir. In terms of choosing a major, I am still undecided, but leaning towards a double major in English literature and architecture or biology. I am extremely dedicated to my studies and sport. Importantly, I have the mental strength to face any challenge on or off the field.
