Joey Donati '26 Recruiting Profile

I've been playing football since I was 12.  The biggest influence in my football life is my dad.  He played at Sac State and shares fond memories he has of his playing days.   I have loved playing since I first stepped on the field.  The camaraderie and community of the team and coaches is like a second home to me.   My sophomore and junior years, I started at quarterback and defensive end on varsity.  Continuing to play the collegiate level would be a dream come true, giving me opportunities and experiences of a lifetime.

My coaches have honored me by making me Team Captain as a sophomore and junior.  As a team leader, I try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates.  I believe I am very coachable and take to heart the teachings and lessons my coaches impart on me.  I strive to be the hardest working player and will continue to do so as a recruit.  

I work hard yearround on my skills.  I also play baseball, catching and pitching, and work hard in the gym which contributes to my athleticism.     

While I currently play quarterback and defensive end, I am willing to play any position at the collegiate level.

I am dedicated to excelling both academically and athletically. In the classroom, I work hard to maintain a high GPA, and I have consistently led my team in GPA.  I have learned to balance my academics and football with minimal outside distractions as these are my priorities, and will continue to do so.  

I want to attend college where I can continue to push myself both academically and athletically. I am open to all options and want to find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible.
