Mathew Gibes '22 Recruiting Profile

Dear perspective Coach:

  My name is Mathew Gibes. I am currently a Junior at Serrano High School in Phelan CA.
 I started playing football in the 9th grade.  I started as a WR, cornerback.  Half way through the season I was moved to TE, OLB where I became a starter.
  My sophomore year I was a starter on the JV team that went 10-0. I also played Varsity later in the year on a 10-0 team who won the Mojave River League and also went on to round three of the CIF playoffs.
  My Junior year, I became a starter at Tight End. Due to the pandemic, we had a shortened 5 game schedule and went 4-1. There were no playoffs. I took advantage of the time  and looked to my upperclassman who  took the time to mentor me during the off-season  and throughout the shortened season,that I will forever be great full for the time we had together!
 Going into my senior year, I am looking to be a leader for my team and continue building the brotherhood we have developed as well as pay forward ,the mentorship I received, to the  upcoming teammates!  Not only on the field but also to lead by example in the classroom.
My key attributes are my work ethic, positive attitude, strong morals and willingness to learn and do what I have to to help myself and others.
  After High School,  I would like to find a school at which I can complete my degree and contribute to the football program.I am eager to pursue a college degree  in either Business or Psychology ,as , no matter how bad I would like it to be I know football is not a forever career. I  am also looking forward to continuing  my Football career at the college level  I know that my future is in my hands.

I know that I will make a good addition to the right School's football and overall community.
