My name is Mason. I am from Southern California. I was born in Pasadena but grew up and go to school at Serrano High School in the Victor Valley area, which is approximately 85 miles northeast of Los Angeles. I’m the middle child of 3 kids. My mom is a high school volleyball coach and referee. My dad is a probation officer and PA announcer in the NBA, NBA G League, and WNBA.
My goals for college are to get my bachelor’s degree in Physical Education Teaching and to make the team wherever I go for college. I feel like I am a good candidate for any team that wants me because I am coachable, I’m a great listener, and a team player. I’m also one of the hardest working players on the court. The difference between me and other recruits is that, on and off the court, communication is a priority for me. The team is better when we’re all on the same page and we have to communicate to be on the same page. Whether it’s in game or after class to help with homework, I’m always willing to let you know the truth.
My love for basketball is unmatched. I eat, sleep, and breathe basketball everyday. I have continued to work out with my trainer, even during the pandemic, because I want to be better and stay ready to give my next team my best. Before the pandemic, I was playing all year round. I played with an AAU team (IEBP), participated in different skills camps, and played for my school’s varsity basketball team since my sophomore year. I also enjoy watching old videos of the ‘87 Los Angeles Lakers, but I like watching and learning from all college and pro basketball. I like sharing what I’ve learned about basketball with younger kids. I was a camp counselor for the annual Jamaal Franklin Camp that is held at my school and a counselor for my school‘s camp since my freshman year. To see those kids smiling and having a good time just makes me feel good knowing that I was able to work with kids in my community on the game that I love. This is the biggest opportunity in my life, so far, and I’m excited to play at the next level!!
