My name is Wesley Houck and I am a 6'2, 245 pound TE/DE from Whitney High School. I am going into my 7th year playing football and my second year on the varsity team. The main reasons that I became interested in football were just from watching it as a kid and going to 49ers games since I was 7. Through playing football I have learned that I can overcome a lot more challenges then I ever thought possible and that leadership is one of the most important traits that a person can have when going into difficult situations with groups of people. I also have learned that I have the ability to block out any outside noise in order to put my head down and grind on anything that I want to improve on.
A unique skill that separates me from other people on the football field is that I have played every position on offense as well as defensive line and linebacker on defense. This skill also leads me into a unique characteristic which is that I am selfless and am willing to do anything I can to help improve my team. One main obstacles that I have had to overcome is that I have played offensive tackle my whole football career because my team has always been very small, but I have the athleticism and hands to play the tight end position so I have gone to training specifically for tight end where I have learned route running and footwork needed to play the position at a high level. Having to play tackle because it helps my team has been the main reason I have stayed there without trying to leave but with the addition of more size to our team I can leave it without having to hurt my team. Many of my academic goals in high school have been met because I have taken a lot of AP, honors, and dual enrollment courses in order to help me by the time I get into college. In college I plan on doing anything related to business or sports because they are the two things that I have the most interest in. My goal is to play the highest level of football possible in order to give myself a free education as well as get money to go back and help out my family and I am willing to put in whatever work necessary to achieve that.
