James Tyler Sells '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is James Tyler Sells, And I was born and raised in Sonora California, attending both Sonora Elementary School and Sonora High School. I have played football since I was in the 7th grade, and basketball since the 3rd grade. I've never had any major injuries.  I believe something that sets me apart from other recruits is my love for the game of football; a lot of people like playing football but I've always loved, not only playing it but continuing to learn about it and watching film. My high school coaches often say that I spend more time watching film than they do. Another thing that I believe sets me apart is my dedication in the classroom. I have a 3.88 weighted GPA, and I already have 20 transferable college credits through Sonora's Dual enrollment system with Columbia Junior College. I've taken 3 AP classes, and 5 college classes and will be taking another one in the spring. I was chosen as Lineman of the Year and a first team defensive lineman in the MLL. I also received awards for 2nd team all small school state offense from Cal high sports, and 2nd team all section defense. In high school I was a 3-year varsity starter and was a leader throughout but a captain for my senior year. I was also selected as a captain in a senior bowl/ all-star game I participated in. In that all star game I only played defense and recorded 1 sack, 5 tackles for loss, and 3 other tackles. I have been working in the weight room as well. My father and I have religiously gone to the gym at 4:30 in the morning since my freshman year. My max squat is 505 pounds, my bench press is 315x3; 225x 12.
