Vince Lombardi once said, “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand”. These are some of the words that I use to best describe myself. I am a hard working student athlete that strives to achieve a balance between high academic achievement and athletic successes. I am determined to pursue my goals in the area of medical science and believe that the right academic institution of higher learning is crucial to bring that goal to fruition. Being a high level athlete, I intend to pursue a highly competitive and diverse athletic program to catapult my skills to the next level. In addition to my personal qualities and academic accomplishments, I believe that I would be a successful part of any college family.
I believe that I can best describe myself both personally and academically as a leader. By maintaining a 4.43 high school GPA, taking rigorous Honors classes in Science, Mathematics and English, and maintaining my status with the California Scholarship Federation and the National Honors Society, that I am leading the way academically to a successful high school career. On a personal note, I consider myself to be a fun loving, responsible and intelligent student athlete that is determined towards my goals. I possess good communication skills and have an outgoing personality. I enjoy making friends and being part of a team. Whether it be tutoring my fellow students in Math class or leading my team to a victory win, I lead by example and try to bring out the best in myself and those around me. A former teacher referred to me as an “all American” because she felt I have the perfect balance between personality, academics and athleticism. In her words, “Jake is a student who is constantly raising the bar for himself and stepping up to challenges while maintaining great intellectual integrity”.
I’ve set my goals high and believe that I have what it takes to achieve my high school and college goals. The price of success for me is to walk away from any challenge feeling that I gave it 100% and that I applied myself with the best of my abilities.
