Clay Hawkins '10 Recruiting Profile

I am happy to have this opportunity to tell you about myself. My name is Clay Hawkins. I am 6'2" 185lbs which I find to be an excellent build for football place-kicking. Glenwood Springs High School recruited me from the varsity soccer team to be their placekicker (2years ago). I was able to continue competing on the varsity soccer team, Golf team and play as the varsity place-kicker in that fall season. Both the soccer and football team went to the state playoffs, with our football team winning the Colorado 3A State Championship. Our 14-0 season was the first undefeated season in the schools history. I had 68 out of 71 PATs and 8 fieldgoals. My percentage of kickoffs that were touchbacks was over 50% both my Junior and Senior year. In the two years I had over 100 PATs while having only 4 blocked or missed. In practice I have made 25 50yard field goals in a row. In my first year as place-kicker I was chosen All State Honorable Mention. Although I am relatively new at football, I have excellent leg strength due to 13 years of soccer experience. I find golf and placekicking to be very parallel. Both use a methodical approach that concentrates on a smooth stroke and mental preparation. I have kicked fieldgoals under high pressure situations including game tying and overtime fieldgoals. I have confidence in my abilities and my ability to impact the outcome of games at a collegiate level. Thank you for considering me for your program.
