My name is Chris Reese and I am a Junior at Columbine High School, where I am a dual-sport athlete in football and basketball. I have worked hard to maintain a 4.0 GPA (unweighted) with numerous Honors and AP classes. I seek out challenges, and hope to study Engineering and/or Business in college. My goal is to play for a high-academic school with a strong athletics program. I believe that I possess several key attributes that make me stand out from other potential recruits:
Competitiveness – I understand what it takes to be the best – my father and two of my uncles were All-American athletes at the University of Colorado. I have also competed in the toughest conference in Colorado against D1 commits in both football and basketball and more than held my own.
Leadership – I expect a lot from my teammates, but am always positive with them. I lead on the field with my actions and also off the field, where I tutor teammates struggling in the classroom.
Versatility – I played Defensive End, Linebacker, Tight End, and H-Back this past football season, earning an All-Conference award at Defensive End. In basketball I averaged 13 rebounds per game this last AAU season, usually covering the opponent’s best player – regardless of position.
Work Ethic – I lift my hardest every day. From the start of Sophomore year to the start of Junior year I improved my bench press by 50 lbs, power clean by 100 lbs, and squat by 125 lbs.
Toughness – I played every down in 5 games this season and only had a few plays on the sidelines the other 6 games. I broke my ankle on the last play of the 3rd Quarter in a playoff game and played the remainder of the game, making 3 more tackles, including a 4th down stop.
My athletic goals for my Senior football season are to win the State Championship and to be named 1st Team All-Colorado as a Tight End or Defensive End. My goals for basketball are to win the Jeffco League and lead the state in rebounding. I believe my attitude and attributes will translate to college success and I look forward to competing at the next level.
