In high school, I played football all four years. Trained with one of the most successful teams in Powder Springs, Georgia. Every summer I would spend a week at Camp Cedine Christian camp where I was selected for a youth leadership role. I loved being around that positive environment. In that leadership rolled I would always make sure everyone followed the rules and keep my eye out for those didn’t.
During pound football, our team had always been the team that others needed to beat in order to make it to the championship. My middle school team was so good between 6th grade and 8th grade we only lost one game. That was the 6th-grade championship. I started on both offense and defense and love every minute of it.
Football has been the outlet I needed in my life when things were not perfect. I had terrible challenges in life where I could’ve ended up in a bad place, but I stay focused and overcome many obstacles. During my 10th year, I had three cousins to be murdered in a 3-month period. One of them was my best friend. He had a scholarship to go to college, but his life was interrupted. My cousin’s death was an eye-opener for me; it made me realize how life isn’t just a game. I had to take control of my own actions and not let anybody or anything stop me regardless.
I would like to attend college and major in forestry. I want to have a career that helps people when they could no longer help themselves. Becoming a Firefighter, I would be in a position to save people’s lives. The ideal college would be a nurturing environment that promotes academic success. I know college is not going to be easy nonetheless, I am up for the challenge.
