My name is Colton Rush and I began playing football when I was 5 years old on the pop warner league in Florida and I have played ever since. I love the game from that nervous feeling right before kickoff until the final whistle blows. The strategy, the physicality and the brotherhood all contribute to making me a better player and a better person. My family has moved from multiple states due to work requirements, but this has been a benefit for me as I adapt easily to change and make friends quickly. Football has helped me emerge as a leader on and off of the field. I am confident in myself and in my abilities and I challenge or encourage others to keep getting better.
I plan to work on improving my GPA, finishing high school and completing college. I have a fairly good idea of the career path I wish to pursue. I have had a couple difficult teachers in the past few years that have not been supportive of athletic involvement. I had one teacher say to me "do you really think you are going to go anywhere playing football?". I told her, "I sure am going to try". I plan to play football and be successful in my college studies, and I believe in completing whatever I start. Winning the State Championship last year was not only a highlight for me in my football career, but it also moved the bar higher for the things I want to accomplish. I know I will be a an asset for my college team.
