Personal Statement

Hello Coaches and Recruiting Coordinators!

Thank you for viewing my profile! My name is Scott Morgan. I am a junior at Etowah High School (AAAAAA) in Woodstock, Georgia. My height is 6'4 1/2 and I currently weigh 270 pounds. My primary positions are defensive end and defensive tackle.  I have also been asked to support our team at offensive tackle.  In addition, I started every game at center on the freshman team. Our offense ran the ball very well and we had an undefeated season. I am a very physical player with a real passion for the game of football.

I love coming to practice every day to make myself better along with helping my teammates improve their skills.  I continue to work hard in the weight room in an effort to be a more powerful and quicker football player. My current max for each lift is as follows: Bench:320 Squat:450 Power Clean:315. My 40 is 5.03 with a goal of 4.8. I am currently working with NFL Cleveland Browns Defensive Back Buster Skrine to improve my speed, quickness and agility.

In the off-season, I wrestle to stay in shape for my football conditioning and improvement. I wrestled at the 220 weight class as a sophomore and moved to heavyweight along with my twin brother Brad during the past 2013-14 season. Our team won Regions for the first time! Wrestling is helping me to stay low, improve my quickness and be more physical with the use of my hands. Last June while participating in the National Underclassmen Combine at Heritage High School in Lynchburg, Virginia I was awarded the "Strongest Man Award".  The coaches there made the following comments in their write-up: "Great size, Strong, Great technique".

Academically as a Sophomore, I carried a 3.4 GPA. I love challenging myself in the classroom. My homework gets done no matter how tired I might be at the end of the day! My favorite subjects are History and Math.

I am also a big believer in helping my community. I am always happy to lend a hand when needed by my parents, teachers and coaches. Last summer I got involved with my church group in a mission trip to New Orleans. We helped many homeless and other victims of Hurricane Katrina get back on their feet by repairing their homes and cleaning up debris. I also enjoy helping kids with special needs. This past summer I spent a weekend working with an organization called LOVELOUD,

Though I enjoy wrestling, football is my real passion. I am committed and driven to become the best football player I can possibly be. My dream is to play Division 1-A  football and graduate with a four year degree. I will represent your school and program both athletically and academically in a manner that would make you, the schools administrators and the alumni very proud. Thank you again!.

Scott Morgan
