Winning the Hawaii Big Boys Football League championship for my community team called Kalihi Disciple two years in a row was the highlight of my freshman and sophomore year. However, I feel I grew the most as a student-athlete my sophomore year when my high school junior varsity team made it to state championship and fell short of the scores. As much as it hurt, I knew that my team and I cannot dwell on the loss forever and had to refocus and prepare ourselves for varsity the following year. The loss motivated me to train hard and built up to become a strong athlete playing for both defense and offense. As training becomes intense, my main focus was to meet varsity standard and be strong enough to play at a college-level.
I am grateful to be a part of such an amazing program. I learned the value of teamwork, commitments, integrity, persistence, and leadership in the four years I played high school football. My team and I had overcome many obstacles. We have loss some players along the way but we keep moving forward and honor them by playing the best game we could ever play. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me both athletically and academically. As a two-sports athlete and six times captain, I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, morals, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.
