Connor Kitamura '23 Recruiting Profile

As a little kid I was reminded everyday  to “always do my best, give it all you got and never give up”, however when you're a little kid you don’t really understand what that means, until one day you wake up and realize, “oh man, I need to step it up”.  That's when all the reminders and the sacrifices my family has made for me to be and do my best becomes a reality.  I’m sure I am like every high school student, dreaming BIG,  dreaming of one day playing collegiate football and being a successful businessman, however right now this is my great dream that needs to become my reality. 

At this moment I have a responsibility to my family and most importantly to myself.  I went through life trying all kinds of sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball and paddling. Although these sports have taught me a lot about teamwork and being a team player, I didn’t have that “feeling”, the gut wrenching feeling of hunger, a hunger that I needed to satisfy.   While playing football I had that hunger as well as this “rush” that every player gets when they are about to face their opponent using every muscle or fiber in their body to push back,  fighting till the end.  While playing football I realized that is the best feeling I’ve experienced in any sport I have ever played. 

People have made comments that I’m a late bloomer, but I can tell you one thing, I work my ass off making sure I am just as good or even better than my teammates because I didn’t play community football like they did. 

I would love and appreciate the opportunity to play at a collegiate level, earn a business degree and one day return to my community to give back what I’ve learned as a college graduate and athlete and that is to do the hard work, be dedicated and NEVER give up because this will make your dreams become your reality.
