Thank you for visiting my profile. I realize I am late getting started, when it comes to the recruiting process. Hopefully, the details that I have put below will shed some light as to why. My hope is that you will still be willing to take a chance on me, even though I am entering my senior year in highschool this Fall.
At the age of three, I entered the foster care system in Jacksonville, FL. I remained in State care until the age of six. I was adopted by a couple in Idaho, but unfortunately after they divorced, only two short years later, was awarded back to the State of Idaho. Since then I have been in a number of homes and group homes. I was never really given the opportunity to strive for my dream of playing sports in college. I have been told many times the natural ability is all there, but beyond that I was overlooked. In 2019 at the age of 16, I was living in a group home in Northern Idaho. I had been living and attending their private school for over a year, when I was informed I finally had a family that wanted me. Not only as a foster child but they wanted to adopt me. Fast forward one year; the adoption is final and I have a family of eight! I am the second oldest of six children. I had all but given up hope that this would ever happen for me. Honestly, I had come to terms with the idea of aging out and either ending up homeless or possibly in prison. I give these personal details to hopefully help you understand I have ALWAYS had the dream of playing football in college. It is only now that it has become a real possibility through the help of my parents and my amazing coaches that are helping me achieve this dream.
Here is an overview of the last couple years and how far I feel I have come. I will be the first to admit that when I arrived at my new school Junior year I was un-coachable, angry, dishonest, and only thought of myself. I was blessed with some coaches that instead of turning away from me, they helped me to see the errors of my ways. They benched me when I would not listen. They called my parents when I lied. They made me run when I acted better than someone else. They gave me tough love and that was the best thing that could have ever happened. I had parents that did not let me quit when it got hard or I burnt a bridge with a teammate. They made me have those tough conversations. I get away with nothing and it is exactly what I needed and still need. It reminds me that I am finally loved and valued as a teammate and a son. I get along great now with my friends, family and teammates. I have learned to put new roofs on homes, pour cement on a driveway, cut and stack wood and more. I learned all of this by serving in the community that welcomed me as a Kimbro, not a “damaged foster child”. Before, I always felt people were assuming the worst in me. I have a different outlook on life now. I realize that most everyone is just doing the best they can and wants to see the best in people. I have come to understand the problem was not them, it was me. I was going to hurt them before they could hurt me. I no longer see life that way.
Work ethic is huge to my parents. To do the best you can and then leave the rest up to the Lord. This last year I have held a steady job. I have made my own money for the first time. It has helped me understand the value of hard work and working for what you want. In addition to me currently having a full time job, I wake up at 5:30 AM Monday-Friday and go to the gym with my father and two brothers. I then go to work and when I get home, I go for a three mile run. I have seen the positive impact this has had on my physical and mental strength. My speed had increased and my endurance levels are very strong. I feel I would be a huge asset to a college team because I am fast, hard working and willing to go the extra mile to be the best we can be.
In summary I would like to say:
I am very fast
I am a skilled football player
I am coachable
I work hard and well with teammates
I am willing to learn and change
I continue to strive to become a better student academically
I am humble
I am worth taking a chance on!
