Sports have been a huge aspect of my life as I have grown to who I am now. I have always been a 3 sport athlete until recently where I have begun to focus more on the 2 sports which my athletic skills fit better with; Football and Baseball. Leadership is something I strive to bring to the table wherever I go. Some aspects of the game you can control by yourself, but you and your team are always going to face adversity which is where leadership shines. Going into my second year as a starter, I bring much more to the team as I know what to expect and how things are running in the organization. The prior seniors taught me how to act and play at this kind of level, now it is my turn to show my peers and the underclassmen how to play just like the guys before them. We didn't have the amazing ending to our season that we thought we were going to have, but we learned so much on our journey that started in the summer and ended the first week of November. I love the saying that our coach has for us because it is so true and can be applied to virtually anything that I do in my life. He says " Never get too high, and never get too low". This means a lot for all of us on the team because one day we could play as if no one can beat us. Another day it may be the complete opposite as we may play way below expectations. Knowing this, you can't say you're the best in the world after one game because that's when you fall. You also can't tell yourself that you are the worst because then you won't have the motivation to keep going. Lastly, all of the guys in the program have the same expectations for anyone on the team. We all told each other our goals at the start of the year verbally. We all had personal and team goals, which I believe makes a team, a team. We trust each other with what we say, as we should trust each other on the field. I believe if I set goals and stick to them I can play better than anyone else playing against me, which makes me the player I am today. Academically I set goals too. I try to do my best in and out of classroom, but if things in the classroom aren't better than what 's on the field there's a problem. That's why I always put academics first, then the football field.
