Jake Slaughter '22 Recruiting Profile

I have been fortunate enough to start varsity since the first game of my freshman year.  I have had a successful high school football career, leading my team in tackles and touchdowns both sophomore and junior years, as well as being named All-Conference and MVP those years.  However, the most memories came from my junior year, which occurred during the pandemic.  Residing in Illinois, our season was postponed many times, than canceled, and once again delayed until the spring, but shortened.  It would have been easy to give up and get discouraged.  Instead, I hit the gym, found an empty field, and got to work.  This was the year I grew the most.  As an athlete, a student, a teammate, and a person.  I look forward to my senior season, and the 4 years of college after that.  Football has always been a huge part of my life, but this last year, it became my passion.
