Personal Statement

HI!  My name is Avery Carlson.  I have been playing football since I was 8 years old when I lived near Fort Worth, Texas.  I moved back to Byron, IL back in 2007 and have been a dominant football player ever since.  All through junior tackle I was a leader on both offense and defense.  My freshman year saw me work into the starting lineup on the sophomore team.

During my sophomore year I led the team in rushing with 1145 yards and was the best back in my conference.  I have great parents who support me and allow me to train all year round.  I also have two younger brothers and a sister who look up to me as well.

I have just finished my junior season as one of the leaders in my conference in rushing with 1,000 yards and was helped my team make it into the semifinals of the Class 3A IHSA playoffs.

I look forward to being even more dominant during the final campaign of my high school career and winning a state championship!  I have increased my strength, my size, and most of all.....my speed.  I went from a  5.4 second 40 yard dash back at the end of my 8th grade year down to a respectful 4.87 second 40 yard dash in January of 2014 during Don Beebee speed camp.  My goal is to run a sub 4.5 second 40 yard dash by the time I graduate while still maintaining my powerful build and running style.  I can be elusive when I need to due to my excellent vision and great cuts and explosive bursts. I am also able to run over defenders or carry tacklers when required to get that extra yardage.

I plan to get a good college education at a great school and lessen the financial burden on both me and my family by excelling at football and in the classroom!  I look forward to hearing from you soon.
