I am very interested in continuing my athletic career in football as a lineman on either side of the ball. At the collegiate level, I aspire to be competitive at D3 to D1 colleges. I realize that many athletes heading into college set themselves apart by demonstrating consistent dedication and a strong work ethic; however, in addition to those crucial elements of success, my passion for the competition sets me apart even further. While in season, my team trains for eight and a half hours a week. During the off-season, we have an hour and a half workout session four days every week, consisting of weightlifting, agility training, stretching, and more. I get creative with my time to improve myself: of course, I make sure I know my position and execute plays, but I also communicate with my teammates about our mistakes and work through how we can improve them, both individually and as a unit. For many athletes, the incentive is the extrinsic award or the lure of the scholarship, and I will not dismiss those as worthy objectives. However, I enjoy going to practice every day and striving to make improvements, knowing the outcomes will take care of themselves.
Most importantly, I pour the same passion into my other academic and extracurricular commitments. I do not always get enough sleep, because my academics are important to me, and if I cannot get my homework done on the ride home from games, I have some long nights. I'm also a well-balanced trumpeter and voice musician, as I participate in Madrigals, Chamber Choir, Marching Band, and Symphonic Band. In Madrigals, I spend roughly two hours a week before school rehearsing and a week from August to December practicing my repertoire. Usually this ends in December with a dinner.
I am unique, I understand the need to serve others, and therefore, I participate in FFA, FCA, LifeSavers, my church youth group, and volunteering opportunities in my area. I desire to deepen my religious beliefs as a Roman Catholic moving on into the next step of my life, as well. Because of this I do not simply strive to be an accomplished athlete, but a well-rounded individual who can make a difference in the lives of others. I am now registered with the NCAA. I've been awarded Second Team All-Conference Offensive Lineman, and Honorable Mention All-Area Offensive Lineman as well. As my Head Coach Cully Welter said, “Any college that takes a chance on me will not be disappointed."
