Why would someone be interested in or want to take a chance on Grady Steele, a kid from a small-town school like me?
Well, let me tell you. I was raised by a hardworking, military single mom, who always put me first. She constantly reminded me that God gave me my athletic abilities and that I needed to be a Godly example to others, both on and off the field. I know what it’s like to cheer from the sidelines because I was injured in August of 2023, the week before school started, and missed my entire junior football season. I had a bucket handle meniscus tear, but after a successful surgery and five months of rehab, I am back, and both mentally and physically stronger than before. I did not let this injury defeat me, instead, I was in the gym, in a knee brace, for hours each day, fighting through adversity by gaining strength while broken. My mom, she was there encouraging me every step of the way.
I love this sport. I love my coaches. I love my teammates. Their success is my success. I want to see each and every one of them succeed. After last season ended, I set up a training schedule during the off season for my teammates and over the past year, we have fostered an environment of trust and dedication. Being part of this brotherhood is a main reason why I want to continue playing football in college. If you take a chance on me, not only will you get a hardworking, mentally, and physically tough athlete for your team who will dominate on the field; but you will get a leader, who makes the team better, even when he’s not on the field.
