My freshmen year I was able to start at center. My team would go on to place third in are conference GLAC many of my teams mates would go on to play at a college level with one attending LSU. I’m now in my junior year and have completely switch my body I currently am staring fullback and starting middle linebacker I am currently all conference for both positions and most likely best in the league at those spots.
My coach introduced us to the book called Chop Wood and Carry Water. I felt I grew as a student athlete because of the lessons we talked about during football study sessions. This book helped me think about patience and commitment to a process and team.
This football season I learned the value of trusting my coaches, teammates, and myself. This trust helped me walk away with more than a trophy, I felt like I was part of a brotherhood. I believe I demonstrated leadership traits and my ability by earning the respect of my senior teammates. I was considered a strong leader on the team in my first season with them. I was proud to earn the nickname the “Freshman”
Thanks to my experience this year, I am confident I have the talent and determination to play football at the college level. I am excited to apply myself over the next three years in order to obtain my goals of playing college football and becoming an architect. For me, focusing on my long-term future is just as important to me as playing football.
