Personal Statement

I am a senior long snapper at Davenport (IA) Assumption High School.  I am a multi-sport athlete who just took up long snapping as a freshman.  After getting brought up to the varsity team as a sophomore, and receiving encouragement from my coaches to get into camps and pursue this beyond high school, I got involved with Kohl’s Specialists Camps this past spring.  Besides attending training camps and showcase events, I have received invitations to compete in Kohl's National Scholarship Camp in Tennessee the last two summers and their very elite National Underclassmen Challenge in Miami in January 2021, and finished near the top in my class in all events.  Kohl's currently rates me a 4.5 star recruit (out of 5) and ranks me the #24 long snapper in the country in my class.  My 14 yard snap times have hit as low as 0.68 at recent showcase events.

In the classroom, I am a 4.0 student through six semesters, and scored a 24 on the ACT in April.  In addition to athletics, I am involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  I am also a member of the National Honor Society, and was named Academic All-District.

As I mentioned above, I am a multi-sport athlete, playing football and baseball.  On the football field, I am also a starting safety and wide receiver. After seeing my potential as a long snapper, I decided to not play basketball last winter, and instead spend that time committed to adding strength and size to my now 6’0”, 185 pound frame and continue to explore camp options with Kohl’s schedule.  I finished a perfect 52/52 on short snaps and 16/16 on long snaps for my junior year, and my team had an 8-1 record, winning a district championship.  In my senior year, I finished a perfect 46/46 on short snaps and 35/35 on long snaps for a playoff qualifying team.  I was also named a 1st Team All-District defensive back, with 4 interceptions and 53 tackles.  Offensively, I had 13 receptions for 116 yards.

My goals, outside of sports, for the remainder of high school are as follows: continue to receive straight A’s, achieve the best ACT/SAT scores I can, start to realize my academic/career interests, and continue to grow in my faith and in my relationships with others.

I am wanting to continue playing the sport I love at the college level.  I am confident, with my work ethic, ability to take coaching, attention to detail, and desire to be the best, that I will be an asset to your program.  I believe that I could play at any level.  Thank you for your consideration.
