Personal Statement

I'm a very outgoing and determined person with a strong ethical backbone.  I am personable and coach-able, understanding the importance of being a respectful team player.  I always strive to do my best.  My academics are extremely important to me as I am an A student involved in many extracurricular activities in high school, so I know how to be organized, responsible and on time when juggling a busy schedule.  I am continuously trying to better myself; average is not something I settle for.  Working on our family farm has made me no stranger to knowing how to work hard.  During the off-season I am running drills and lifting in the weight room.  I am always willing to put in the extra time and give my all.   I absolutely love the game of football, and I have such a strong passion for it as handed down from my grandfather who played for Ellsworth Community College in the late 70's.

Awards and Activities

  • AwardsI have made the Gold honor roll all my years of high school so far with a 4.0 GPA my freshmen year, a 3.86 GPA my sophomore year, and I'm currently sitting at a 3.9 GPA in my junior year. I have also received the Gold Presidential Academic awards and received the Academic All-Team All-Conference award. I was nominated and chosen by the local Manning Rotary to attend the 2019 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards at Grinnell College this past summer. RYLA is an event to encourage and assist youth leaders and potential leaders in methods of responsible and effective leadership by providing them with a training experience. At the end of the week long conference, I was humbled when they asked if I would return next year as a 2020 Youth Counselor. I have also been nominated and chosen to attend Boys All State representing our local American Legion this coming summer.
  • ActivitiesI'm involved with my church youth group, FFA, speech (individual/group), State Speech, play, musical, holiday church skits, Choir (large group/small group), and I'm actively involved in farming on our family farm helping with row crop & livestock. Last fall I volunteered to be a Youth Mentor at the CIY Believe Conference in Kansas City when our church took the Junior High students to a weekend youth rally. My mom works for Manning City Hall, so I volunteer at several community events throughout the year including Manning's annual Kinderfest celebration where I assist in the information booth greeting guests. I also enjoy volunteering to help during our school's sponsored city-wide clean up day where we assist elderly and help clean up public areas throughout the town. I have volunteered in Omaha, NE at the Open Door Mission where my youth group served meals to the homeless which was incredibly rewarding when we got to sit and chat with the guests. Their stories gave me a whole new perspective! My mom was my Youth Leader and recently stepped down, but I've been blessed to grow up understanding the importance of giving back and volunteering. I believe that in order to truly lead, we have to learn how to first serve. I also play basketball and in the spring I kick box at local kickboxing gym in Carroll, IA. I also like to be in the weight room a lot.
