Andrew "Drew" Schmelzle '21 Recruiting Profile

I am always ready to take advantage of any opportunity that comes my way. As a kid who got adopted into a family that could offer me more opportunities to succeed, I always have that in mind. Knowing that makes me want to work harder to achieve my goals and seize opportunities. This is my second chance, I’m thankful for it and I want to make the most of it. I have played 4 different positions on defense at the varsity level and I have experience at 4 positions on offense. (Def: ILB, DE/LB hybrid, 4-tech, SS)(Off: TE, QB, H-back, slot).

As a student athlete I have always been someone who welcomes challenges. I enjoy working through them and having to push myself harder to achieve a goal. The game of football will always be my first love. I enjoy everything about the game, the practices, training, lifting, watching film, eating and drinking right. The game of football makes sense to me like nothing else does. I want to put myself in the best position to succeed at a school with both great athletics and academics!
