My name is Marquis Britten and I am part of class 2017 as a defensive back for Scotlandville Magnet High football team. I have played varsity since my freshman year. I have competed and been a multiple sport athlete since the age of six. Throughout my football career, I have been a skill player and played on offense and defense. I am a diligent worker, dedicated to being the best player I can be and gladly accept the challenges put before me by coaches and teachers. My freshman year I was a multisport athlete as a sprinter on the varsity track team while playing varsity football.
Academics are just as important to me as football and track. I am a serious student who has made the Merit List my freshman and sophomore years. I was presented with the National Honors Society and National Merit Scholar award during my freshman and sophomore year. To further advance my leadership skills, I became part of the US Army Teen Leadership Council.
My academic goals in high school are to continue making the A honor roll and to raise my GPA above 4.0. My athletic aspirations includes getting bigger, faster and stronger, making All Conference, All State teams as a starting defensive back, continuing the school goal of playing in the state championship as one of the Top Football Programs in Louisiana.. It is my goal to compete at the collegiate level while studying engineering. My compassionate nature is valuable in athletics because it enables me to form strong relationships with my teammates, supporting them and motivating them. I have always set high expectations for myself and I achieve my goals through hard work, determination, and persistence.
What separates me is I'm a leader that leads by example with strong character, morals, values and a determined work ethic that displays a never quit attitude on/off the field. My tenacity will be contagious to my teammates to be the best team on and off the field. I am also very coachable and willing to be taught new things that will help me and my team be successful. I'm willing to learn not only on the field but in the classroom, as well.
I am looking for a University where I can make a difference with hard work.. This University will offer me the opportunity to succeed on and off the field. My goal for college is to play the sport I love while obtaining a degree in Engineering with a minor in Business Entrepreneurship. I promise you will get a 110% out of me at every practice, workout, game, film study, in the classroom and community. As a Student Athlete, I know I will be a positive impact on and off the field. After playing multiple sports, it has taught me about leadership in many capacities which I will carry over to college football and impact my team positively. God, Family, Team is what I live by and I always put my education before sports.
