Dear Prospective Coach:
I would like to introduce myself; my name is John Simmons and currently I am a junior at Friendly High School in Fort Washington, MD. I am 6'4" and weight 235 pounds. I have been on the honor roll since elementary school and my current GPA is 3.5.
I have played the positions of Tight End and Defensive End since my sophomore year. Earlier this month I was voted to the Elite 22 Prince George’s County Football Team and voted as the best at my position of Tight End in Prince George’s County. I was also offered my first full scholarship.
When I was 9 years old, my brothers and I were sent to live with my grandparents. Since that time, I’ve strived to work harder on my academics, and now on the field to make my grandparents proud of me. I was focused on possessing a moral character and not to give my grandparents any worry. I’ve developed a strong work ethic, strength, and desire to win, and I’m somewhat of a perfectionist. Football is my first love, after family of course. I am confident that I will make a great addition to the right School's football team, and overall community.
I did not become interested in football until my sophomore year. I would go and watch my uncle play flag football on the weekends. One day, one of their players was absent and I was asked to fill in. After that one game, I knew I wanted to play football during high school and college.
I have learned that on the field, I am a dynamic player, and a positive influence on my teammates. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college football career, I will strive to be an asset to my team. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field, knowing the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches, and the school I attend.
I attended several combines and camps this past year. I enjoy intense preparation and working with a team toward a common goal, even when there is little personal reward or recognition to be found.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
