My goals in college are to continue earning the good grades I have achieved in high school, and to obtain both a bachelor's and masters degree in Business Administration/Management. After graduation, I plan to open my own electrical business as Electrical has been my shop concentration at Tri-County since my freshman year in high school.
Since I was a kid, the only way I have known to succeed is by setting goals and putting forth my best effort to achieve them. Due to a conditon known as verbal dyspraxia, I was unable to speak intelligibly until I was almost four years old. In addition, I also struggled in the classroom for years due to processing issues. Although it was a long, diffcult process to learn how to speak and succeed in school (coupled with plenty of setbacks), I am now thankful for it because it helped turn me into the hard working person I am today. For instance, although school was often a struggle, through dedication and perseverance, I became an honor student my junior year in high school. Amazingly, what once affected my self esteem in a negative way is now what I refer to as the biggest reason for the successes I have enjoyed throughout high school (both academically and in athletics).
One of the keys to success I learned while going through this ordeal was the value of preparation. During the football season, I always prepare for games in advance. Each week, as soon as we finish a game, I begin preparing for our next opponent by watching lots of film. I take notes, look for opponent weaknesses and tendencies, identify which plays in our playbook will be most successful, and provide written reports to my Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach by Monday morning. Planning and preparation are key to being successful in just about everything in life. Football is no different.
